• Wednesday's 6:15 PM Mass and confessions move to St Columba's while the boiler at St Brigid's is replaced.

  • Our Lady Star of the Sea is closed all Saturday while the floor is resealed; the 9:15 AM Mass on Sunday goes ahead.

  • All Saints falls on Sunday this year, so the usual Sunday times stand. Daylight saving ends overnight: set clocks back an hour on Saturday.

  • Masses for the dead at 8:30 AM and 7:15 PM at St Columba's. The November Book of Remembrance is out by the font in all three churches.

St Columba's

A teenage volunteer ladles soup into a bowl held by an older man in the parish hall, long tables of people eating behind them.

The Church keeps the World Day of the Poor on the Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary Time. At St Columba's that means the hall opens at 1:20 PM, straight after the 12:15 PM Misa, with three soups, bread from the Kessel bakery and coffee. Nobody pays and nobody is asked why they came.

We need 14 people to cook a pot at home and bring it in hot, and eight to serve and wash up. The sign-up sheet is by the hall door after every Mass on November 8, or tell Maeve.

The basket at all three churches that weekend goes to the Saltcote food shelf, which feeds around 90 households a week through the winter.
